The short version

Awake has no sign in. The app sends nothing except one license check and, for the trial, your email address. It does not track what you do and it does not know what your agents work on. The task summary you see when you open the lid never leaves your Mac.

What the app does

License check

When you activate a key the app sends the key and a device identifier to our server. The device identifier is a SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware UUID. We never receive the UUID itself and we cannot reverse the hash. Purpose: one key belongs to up to three Macs. Legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Trial

When you start the three day trial the app sends a device identifier, the name of your Mac and your email address to our server. The device identifier is the same SHA-256 hash described above. Purpose: one trial per Mac, and one reminder before it ends. Legal basis: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We store a shortened, hashed form of your IP address for at most 30 days to recognise abuse. Trial records including the email address are deleted 90 days after the trial ends unless a purchase follows.

Everything else stays local

Working times, the names of your tools and the summary of the last request are stored only on your Mac in ~/.awake and never transmitted.

What happens when you buy

Paddle

Paddle is our reseller and the Merchant of Record for every order. Paddle runs the checkout, takes the payment, handles VAT and sales tax, issues the invoice and deals with returns. Paddle receives your email address, your payment details and the country data it needs for tax. We never see card data. Paddle acts as an independent controller for that part. Lovable

Sends our emails: the license key after purchase and one reminder before a trial ends. Receives your email address and the content of the message. Supabase

Stores key, email address, device hash and purchase date. Hosting region: EU Central, Frankfurt Germany. supabase.com/privacy

Lovable and Supabase act as processors under Art. 28 GDPR. Data processing agreements are in place. Paddle processes order data in its own right as Merchant of Record.

How long we keep it

License data for as long as the license is valid, then for the statutory retention period of ten years for records relevant to tax law (§ 147 AO). Activation attempts are deleted after one day. Trial records including the email address are deleted 90 days after the trial ends unless a purchase follows.

Security

Transport is encrypted end to end. Database access is closed by default and only our server reaches license data. Receipts are signed so your Mac can verify them offline.

This site uses no analytics, no tracking pixels and no marketing cookies. It sets no cookies that are not technically necessary. The Paddle checkout sets the cookies it needs to process your order.
